Our friends at NC Rugby have organised a parent education event, available to all Nudgee parents. This is a great opportunity for parents to learn how to best support their kids in their sporting journey, regardless of the sports they play.

We look forward to seeing lots of Basketball families there on the night.

Presenter Info:
Wayne Goldsmith is a renowned figure in the realm of sport parenting with over three decades of expertise guiding parents and carers towards finding effective support strategies for their young athletes. With a background in elite sport coaching and sports science, Goldsmith offers invaluable and practical insights into fostering a positive sporting environment, emphasizing holistic development over performance outcomes. His approach emphasizes communication, balance, and understanding in nurturing young athletes, empowering and educating parents and carers to navigate the complexities of competitive sports while prioritizing their children’s well-being. Through writings, workshops, and consultations, Goldsmith continues to reshape the landscape of sport parenting, advocating for healthier, more sustainable athlete-parent relationships.

Eliza Freney is an advanced practising sports dietitian and performance nutrition expert. She has extensive industry experience with her current role as National Head of Performance Nutrition for Rugby Australia, as Performance dietitian for the Wallabies and previously for the Australian Cricket teams. Eliza’s role at Rugby Australia involves the collaboration with nutrition, sports science and sports medicine experts and industry to improve the performance and well-being of rugby athletes. Her research interest areas include omega-3 status and concussion symptoms, investigating energy availability and different dietary factors of athlete wellbeing.

Rob McCafferty is a Nudgee Old boy who worked in the Athletic Development Space at Nudgee for over five years. He now works as a Strength & Conditioning Coach at the Dolphins NRL club so brings a unique perspective to the summit as a past student, past staff member and now coach in the professional sporting setting.
